José Manuel Rodrigues Berardo, also known as Joe Berardo, offers since July an amazing collection of contemporary and modern art, at the CCB.
Composed of more than 862 pieces of art that go from surrealism, to pop-art, passing on Hipper-realism, minimalist art and conceptual art, the Berardo Museum Collection possesses pieces of art from many artists like Joan Miró, René Magritte, Paula Rego, Andy Warhol, Salvador Dalí, Pablo Picasso, Piet Mondrian, Diego Rivera, among many others.
The exhibition begins with a huge tree made of glass bottles, and inside we enjoy an open space, where we can see a wall on which is written what we can or cannot do in the museum. The visit is free and in every corner there is someone available to help us, who are essential because it’s very easy to get lost in the twelve rooms, each one dedicated to a different type of Art, due to a lack of information.
There are also some temporary exhibitions with pieces of art that don’t belong to the Berardo collection. Last week the temporary exhibition was about Eccentric Paths and this week a new temporary exhibition begins, about the Performance Art.
It is such a huge collection that can make you feel very, very small and reflect on how these and much more can belong to the same man?
I went to this exhibition on 14th of November, with my friend and colleague Joana Soares, at
