Joana's Biopic

After being in the same class for one year and two months, we finally bonded enough to call ourselves best friends. At the beginning, there were just four of us, but before we knew it more people joined. I met the friends who saw me grow into the person that I am now when I was eleven years old and from them on we were together at least eight hours a day apart from the time we spent doing things outside school.

We used to go out Friday nights and do what is called “Botellón” in Spanish. We bought alcohol and sat around drinking it and playing stupid games that made you drink even more. We saw the rock bottom a lot, so we learnt to stop together.

This final year, on our finalists’ trip, we could have gone to Canarias, Palma Mayorca, Lloret or Madrid, but no… we decided the Algarve. Without teacher or parents, we stayed in Praia de Rocha at Spring Break like it was summer already. Well, that’s quite a lie, everyone got sick.
I got flu before we even started the trip; the rest must have caught it from me, so they sneezed and blew their noses the entire week. But no one complained.

I miss those days when everyone was there even than just in spirit or over the phone; when the exams were about to start and we didn’t care, due to our bohemian life.
In the last two years, a boy flew to Chile, another travelled by car to Murcia, a girl went to Japan and three boys returned their home in Colombia; so we were reduced to the minimum.

Last month, everyone I knew went to a different college or country. Life passes you by if you don’t grab it. So, now that we realize that the past it’s not coming back, we decide to get together whenever we can.

Next weekend partying it’s the key, laughter is the door and we are more than ready to open it, like we did before.
