Catarina's Biopic

My name is Ana Catarina and I was born 17 years ago in Lapa, Lisbon. I live in Algés with my mother, father and brother. My childhood was made here in Lisbon until I was 9. In the year of 1999 my father had to go to Leiria and we went with him. I lived there for almost 2 years. At the beginning I must confess that I didn’t want to leave my city, but now I’m glad that I went, I made new friends; I lived a very different life, much more relaxed; and I started to adore a city that I never thought I would like. Two years later I began to learn how to play the guitar and went to another school, where I stayed until the last year.

When I was 13 I decided to join the Scouts. I consider this decision a very good one: the scouts helped me to grow up, made me more responsible, showed me other points of view, gave and still gives me refuge from the daily stress. I love the Nature and going camping at the weekend, especially during classtime, is wonderful!

When I was 16, a very important fact changed my life and specially my way of thinking. On May 11th, the birthday of my mother, my best male friend from the Scouts, Pedro, didn’t wake up. I had never been through a situation like this and I went through a very hard period. The support of my boyfriend was crucial to the “recovery”. Now I live everyday with energy, as if it were the last one. He is always in my mind and I can feel him in the wind, in the first sun rays, in the sound that comes from my guitar, almost in every little perfect and wonderful thing.

This year another new stage of my life has just began – the faculty. I am still getting used to this new world, but I think I am doing pretty well!
