She doesn’t understand his reaction, he is always ready to leave work and go away with her. That day he didn’t. She decides to go alone and has a surprise.

Characters: Kate - the wife

John – the husband

Miriam – the best friend

Kate: John! What do you think of going away for a weekend? We need some time for us… Forget work for two days. Focus yourself only on me…

John: My dear you know I have lots of stuff to do at the weekend… business meetings… I won’t be in London!

Kate: Yeah I know, but we need to rest, don’t we? I have already reserved a room in Edinburgh! You know I can’t cancel it…

John: You shouldn’t have reserved without telling me, you know. I can’t go, so you’ll have to go alone.

Kate: I wanted to do a surprise for you, you know. I thought you wanted to be with me…to have some time for us. Why is work so important? I can’t understand you, but ok, I’ll go alone.

Kate packs and catches her plane.

Receptionist: How can I help you?

Kate: I have a reservation. Hum… Kate Sampson.

Receptionist: Yes. Hum… you are staying for two days, aren’t you?

Kate: That’s right.

Receptionist: Ok, here’s your key.

Kate: Thank you. Hum… one more thing… dinner…

Receptionist: Dinner is at 8 o’clock, Mam.

Kate: Ok, thanks!

Kate goes to her room, has a shower, puts on an evening dress and goes down for dinner.

John: Oh my God! Miriam! Kate’s here! She’s gonna see us! What do we do?

Miriam: What?! Are you serious?! Where is she?

John: Over there, having dinner!

Miriam: Ok. Let’s go up before she turns back.

Kate: John?! Miriam?! Hey!

John: Kate? What are you doing here?

Kate: Well, that’s my question. Shouldn’t you be at work?

John: Err…n…yes! And I am. I had a meeting here today, in the afternoon.

Kate: Oh I see… So Miriam, what about you? What are you doing here?

Miriam: Well… I had a meeting too. With John, you know.

Kate: Did you? You forget to tell me, John!

John: Yeah I forgot.

Kate: Well, I’m tired. What’s your room dear? I’m going up to rest.

John: Err… 279. But aren’t you going to your room?

Kate: No. Now you’re here we’ll be together. The key…?

John: Oh! Here.

Kate goes upstairs, finds the room and opens the door.

Kate: What happened here? This is a mess! He wasn’t alone! Whose is this stuff from? I recognize these clothes…those shoes…They’re Miriam’s!

While Kate is upstairs…

Miriam: Oh John! She’s gonna find out! I’m her best friend. She’ll never forgive me… We shouldn’t get involved… I knew this will end like this! How could I be so stupid? It was too good to be true…

John: Relax my dear. We love each other. Hum…what can she do about it?

Miriam: Kate! Weren’t you upstairs?

Kate: Well, I decided to have something first. Shall we? What do you want, John my dear?

John: Hum…Martini please. Miriam?

Miriam: Same.

Kate: Hum...two martinis and one malibu, please.

Barman: Alright, Mam.

Kate: So tell me, what were your meetings about?

John: Err…business you know…the company wants to buy a new piece of art…

Barman: Here.

John: …and they sent me to see it. Guess who came to show it! Miriam!

Kate: Oh that’s great! What is it?

John: Hum… a portrait…

Miriam: John! John…! I can’t breathe…

John: Miriam? Miriam… Please, someone call an ambulance!

Since you asked me so steadily to comment your post, I'll do my best to be more "pleasant" than I was in the post above. But what can be more "pleasant" than asking your blog to marry me?...

In order to avoid misunderstandings, I'll try to be a little more cautious this time. First, I'll invite your blog to go out with me, and then I'll ask if he wants to marry and have lots of blablabla,etc.,etc.

Do you know if "Oops..." is free this friday evening?

P.S.: I nearly forgot to mention the post itself.
I suspect Miriam was murdered. I bet it was, as always, the butler ("mordomo", as we say).

Well, Thank you for you huge comment about my story!
I don't know if "Oops" is free this Friday or not, I'll have to ask my friends about it. As you love so much our blog, you are going to comment more and more, aren't you? :) If comment then we'll think about that marriage ;)

Oh, Joana, don't stress. Read it if you want, when you can.

And José, you crack me up. But really... I think we'll have to see the ring first. A very nice diamond ring. Without the ring... there's no marriage. I won't allow it.
